The club currently has an opening for two executive positions, VP Dressage and VP Western, for this school year 2010-2011. If you would like to run for one of these positions, please attend the executive meeting this Wednesday, September 29th, 2010 in MACK 342 at 5:30pm. Please prepare a short speech about yourself and why you would like to be a part of the Equestrian Club's executive. Also, before attending the meeting please email the club at equest@uoguelph.ca with your name and which position you would like to run for. For more details about these positions, please check out our constitution under ABOUT THE UGEC. All club members are encouraged and welcome to come and cast their vote for these positions. Hope to see you all there!
Club days are Thursday and Friday September 16th and 17th. Come out to our poster to get more information on the club!
We have been getting a wonderfully huge amount of interest in OUEA this year, so we are holding tryouts. There will be a panel of judges to determine the best riders for the team while remaining as fair as possible. Tryouts will be held Monday September 20th the time is TBA. If you are interested in trying out you are STRONGLY advised to come to club days for more information on the commitments required and to see if you are suited to the OUEA circuit. If you ABSOLUTELY will not be passing through the UC either Thursday or Friday then contact bkrause@uoguelph.ca. We will do our best to keep updating the website with more current information, so please be patient while we do so!
Hope you all had a great summer and are looking forward to the following school year. This is just a quick note for those of you who are interested in IDA (Intercollegiate Dressage Association). IDA is the show circuit that UofG Equestrian Club competes in for dressage. There are four riders on our team. The four riders are of different levels: first level, upper training level, lower training level, and introductory level. In the past, the team has been made by Phil Parkes (our dressage coach) evaluating interested riders through lessons, however, our first show is quite early this year (October 16,17). Therefore, we will be holding "tryouts" to determine the riders of the team before lessons start for this school year. If you are interested in trying out for the team, we will be having an informal meeting this Thursday September 16th, at the Brass Taps at 8:30 pm to figure out times for tryouts. If you can't make it to the meeting, or simply have more questions about IDA, please feel free to email me, Elaine, at ewatts@uoguelph.ca
