Being a member of any club is a joyous experience at the University of Guelph - it allows you to meet new people who share a similar interest or hobby.
Membership in the Future Vets Club costs $10. However, we offer a $5 discount to our members for any event that charges admission. Over the course of the year, attending two or more events gets you your money back and it saves you some down the road.
The reason we charge a membership in the first place, is to guarantee that certain events can be held throughout the year. Many events require busses, and these busses have to be paid in full regardless of member attendance. Having the membership money at the beginning of the year allows us to offer a variety of activities without the risk of sacrificing them to allow our more basic events.
Events that we have hosted in the past include:
Behind the scenes tour of the Toronto Zoo's veterinary clinic
MCAT information nights, introducing you to the structure of the MCAT
Mock MCAT writing
Seminars with Veterinarians and other proffessionals
Presentations / Q&A with current OVC Vet students, who talk about their entry process into vet school and things such as which undergrad courses they found the most valuable
Career Night, where we introduce people who have graduaded with their DVM and have moved into the workplace (not necessarily as clinical veterinarians!)
Visitations to Guelph's Donkey Sanctuary of Canada
