Rozites caperatus              The Gypsy

Caps are 5-10 cm across, straw-coloured to ochre, dry, with radial wrinkles, convex to flat or knobbed.  Gills are attached, whitish, becoming rust-brown. Stalks are up to 12 cm tall by 2 cm wide, smooth to slightly fibrillose, whitish. Rings are whitish and persistent. Spore prints are rust-brown. Widespread and common, it fruits on the ground in woods. Edible.
