Caps are 3-8 cm across, dry, hemispherical to flat, tan to ochre, covered with dark brown hairs. Gills are attached to free, crowded, white to purple-black, mottled, often with droplets at edge of gills. Stalks are up to 12 cm tall by 1 cm wide, fibrous to scaly. Spore print is purple-brown to blackish. Widespread and common, this mushroom fruits in grass or in open woods. Not recommended. |
