Anastomosis in Arthrobotrys

Filamentous hyphal systems are a remarkable biological design.  Much of their success is associated with the phenomenon of anastomosis that allows hyphal  bridges to develop between adjacent hyphae.  Hyphae can fuse with other hyphae from the same or a different hyphal system to form a three dimensional grid, introduce new genetical material etc etc.
