
Pompon conidial heads of Aspergillus niger

Right: The SEM shows the compact phialides arising from the vesicle to give the spherical head. The tiny conidia (= spores, phialospores) are produced in long chains from the mouth of the phialide (= conidiogenous cell, sporogenous cell).
