Boletus bicolor           Two-Coloured Bolete

Caps are 5-25 cm across, hemispherical to convex, smooth, dry, red to purple-red, mottled with yellow.  Flesh is yellow, staining blue then fading. Stalks are up to 15 cm tall by 6 cm wide, yellow near the cap, red below, and staining blue. Tubes are up to 15 mm deep, yellow, ageing olive-brown, bruising blue. Pores are angular, 1 mm across. Spore prints are olive-brown.  It fruits under hardwoods. Edible.
