Chalciporus piperatus           Peppery Bolete

Caps are 2-8 cm across, slippery when wet, smooth to hairy near margin, yellowish brown to cinnamon or red-brown.  Flesh is white to yellowish, bruising greyish to brownish, and with a peppery taste. Tubes are reddish-brown. Pores are large and angular. Stalks are  slender, up to 8 cm tall by 8 mm wide, coloured as cap, striate, and yellow at base and inside. Spore prints are cinnamon.  It fruits under conifers.  Also known as Boletus piperatus. Not edible.
