Geastrum pectinatum Beaked Earthstar
Fruitbody has 5-10 arms. Arms reflex completely to raise the spore sac into the air. Spore sac is globose to subglobose, about 2.5 cm across, with elongate, deeply-grooved mouth (peristome) that is clearly demarcated from the rest of the spore sac. The species is easily recognized by the long, beak-like mouth. It fruits on the ground or on well-rotted stumps but is not common.
