Gyroporus cyanescens               Blue Staining Bolete

Caps are 3-11 cm across, convex to broadly convex, dry, hairy to woolly, and dirty white to tan.  Flesh is white, staining rapidly to brilliant blue. Tubes are white to yellowish, staining indigo-lue. Pores are small and round.  Stalks are  up to 10 cm tall by 3.5 cm broad, hairy, and coloured and staining as cap. Spore prints are yellowish.  It fruits under hardwoods, often beside woodland trails. Edible.
