
Leccinum aurantiacum Orange-Capped Bolete
Caps are 5-20 cm across, hemispherical to convex, dry, minutely hairy or scaly, orange-yellow to rusty or orange-brown. Flesh is white to brownish staining wine-red then grey to black. Tubes are white to grey. Pores are tiny and round. Stalks are up to 20 cm tall by 5 cm wide, white to brownish, with red-brown or black dots. Spore prints are yellow-brown. It fruits under birch and poplar. Edible.
