Sordaria fimicola

If you put a mature perithecium of Sordaria in a  tiny drop of water on a glass slide, add a cover slip then hit it once sharply with the tip of a pencil or fine needle, then, with a bit of luck, you can squash it and get a nice spread of asci.  The perithecia have to be at just the right stage.   A few days too old and it won't work.
