Caps are 2-10 cm across, moist to dry, hairy, convex becoming flat or depressed, yellow to ochre or olive-brown, and covered with tiny, dark brown scales. Flesh is thin and yellow. Gills are broadly attached, becoming short-decurrent, close and yellow. Stalks are up to 6 cm tall fy 3-10 mm broad, yellow, and minutely hairy to scaly. Spore prints are white. Widespread but not common, it fruits on conifer wood. Edibility unknown.
