Coprinus on herbivore dung If you incubate herbivore dung in a plastic container you get a succession of fungi fruiting on the droppings. Late in the cycle, a number of tiny mushrooms form. Very often these are species of Coprinus (inky caps). These are hard to identify to species without the proper keys and/or textbooks but they do have an interesting look. In this case, as the lid was removed from the box, the change in air presure caused the delicate stalks to collapse. |
