Hygrocybe coccinea                    Scarlet Hood

Caps are 1-2.5 cm across, smooth, dry, broadly conic to convex, becoming flat and knobbed, and dull vermilion, fading to orange.  Gills are attached, red to peach, becoming yellow at the edge, and well-spaced.  Stalks are up to 4 cm tall by 6 mm wide, and yellow tinged with red.  Spore prints are white. Widespread and common, it fruits under conifers.
