Hygrocybe flavescens Yellow Waxcap Caps 2-6 cm, slippery when wet, shining when dry, smooth, convex to broadly convex, margin faintly striate, orange when young, maturing yellow. Flesh pale yellow. Gills attached to almost free, close or well-spaced, white to yellow. Stalks up to 8 cm tall by 1 cm broad, often flattened, coloured as cap but paler. Spore print white. Widespread and not uncommon, it fruits on the ground in woods. Edible. |
