Hygrocybe nitida                  Nested Wax Cap

Caps are 1-3 cm across, slimy when wet, smooth, convex with inrolled margin, becoming depressed and deeply umbilicate, bright yellow with striate margin, and fading in age.  Gills are decurrent, far apart, and yellow.  Stalks are up to 7 cm tall by 4 mm broad, smooth, slimy, and coloured as the cap. Spore prints are white. Widespread and fairly common, this waxcap fruits on the ground in moist woods.
