
Hygrophorus speciosus Larch Wax Cap
Caps are 2-8 cm across, slimy when wet, smooth, conic to bell-shaped with inrolled margin, red to orange-red, and yellow near the margin in age. Flesh is white. Gills are decurrent, far apart, broad, thick, and white to yellowish. Stalks are up to 10 cm tall by 13 mm broad, white, slightly roughened, sometimes flattened, and sticky to slimy. Spore prints are white. It fruits on wet ground under larch. Edible.
