Hygrocybe virginea White Wax Cap Caps are 2-4 cm across, convex to flat and centrally depressed, white, and dry. Gills are decurrent, well-separated, and white. Stalks are up to 7 cm tall by 6 mm wide, white, narrower towards base and dry. Widespread and not uncommon, this woodland species fruits in wet spots often in moss and is recognized by its dry white caps. |
