Cortinarius armillatus                 Banded Cort

Caps are 5-12 cm, moist, fibre-streaked, convex to flat, and red-brown to brick-red. Flesh is off-white. Gills are attached, close, and pale brown to rusty. Stalks are up to 15 cm tall by 2 cm or more wide, tan, with several orange-red bands and a swollen, club-shaped base. Rings are web-like. Spore prints are  brown. Widespread and common, it fruits under conifers. Not edible.
