Dictydium cancellatum                  Chinese Lantern

Not much detail but sort of arty!

Sporangia are 1- 4 mm tall with globose to flattened, red-brown to purple-brown heads. The outer wall has thick ribs which persist to form a cage-like head at maturity. The Chinese Lantern slime mould fruits on well-rotted wood.   It is quite common but difficult to spot because it blends with the woody background.  Also click here  and here an here.
