Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca      False Chanterelle

Beginners can confuse this mushroom with the True Chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius).  Beware! It has caused intestinal problems for some people but is not regarded as deadly.  The gills in young specimens are a deep rich orange and the caps tend to bleach with time or weathering.  C. cibarius is closer to yellow than orange (click here).
