Laetiporus sulphureus Sulphur Tuft or Chicken of the Woods Description Fruitbodies are shelving, up to 30 cm across, broadly attached, bright sulphur-yellow to yellow-orange, sometimes with a reddish tinge, smooth but uneven, and azonate. Pores are yellow, round, and 3-5 per mm. It fruits on hardwood stumps or living trees. Young edges of the fruitbodies are reported to be edible. I have tried them but I was not impressed. |
