Myriostoma coliforme             Saltshaker Earthstar

Myriostoma is distinguished from other earth stars by the multiple perforations  in the spore sac.  I have never seen this species in the field.  We did have a specimen in the mycological herbarium collected in Ontario about thirty years ago.  So I set up this scene in my garden and photographed it with a digicam.  Too easy!
