
Phaeolus schweinitzii Dye Maker's Polypore
Fruitbodies are more or less circular, up to 25 cm across, flat or depressed, corky-tough, finely or coarsely hairy, becoming smooth in age, golden to ochre or rusty to red-brown with a yellowish margin. Pores are yellow, becoming brown, 1-3 per mm with tubes that are up to 4 mm deep. It fruits on the ground from buried wood or on stumps of conifers.
