Lachnellula agassizii fruiting on Pine Cone

There is a host of tiny fungi with disk-shaped fruitbodies (= apothecia) that are difficult to identify.   Although small they are quite attractive but you often need a hand lens to see the detail.    Lachnellula agasizzii is recognized by the yellow or orange-yellow disk and the dense coating of  fuzzy white hairs on the outside.  It fruits on conifer wood or cones.  This species is sometimes placed in the genus Dasyscyphus.
