Neolecta  irregularis

Fruitbodies are bright yellow, club-shaped to spathulate or irregularly-lobed and occasionally branched and smooth to bumpy or wrinkled.   So, after all that variability, it seems that the species name "irregularis is well chosen.  At first glance this sac fungus looks like a coral fungus but it is tougher and the spore mother cells are asci not basidia (you will need microscope to confirm this).  Widespread and not uncommon, Neolecta fruits in wet, mossy spots in mixed woods in late summer or fall.
