Hydnellum concrescens             Zonate Tooth Fungus

Caps are up to 10 cm wide, solitary or fusing at the margins, smooth to slightly hairy, with a zonate surface and radial ridges. Caps are shades of brown to purplish brown and paler towards the margin. Teeth are up to 2 mm long and dark brown. Stalks are up to 4 cm long and coloured as the caps. Widespread and fairly common, it fruits on the ground in hardwood forests. Also known as H. zonatum.
