
Auriscalpium vulgare Teeth of Auriscalpium
Common and widespread, the common name is "Pine Cone Fungus". Caps are up to 2 cm across, convex to flattened and dark brown. Stalks are lateral, up to 7 cm tall by 2 mm across, tough, and densely covered with dark brown hairs. Teeth are white to violet-brown and up to 2.5 mm long. It colonizes and fruits on partially buried pine cones.
