Mucronella pendula Icicle Fungus
In very wet weather, on well-rotted logs, in Western North America you will occasionally find this remarkable fungus. The fruitbodies look like tiny icicles hanging from the side of the wood by a short stalk. The are attractively shaped, broadest near the base and taper gradually to a sharply pointed tip. You can also see that some of the fruitbodies are being attacked by another fungus.
