In Hohenbuhelia/Nematoctonus   knobs shaped like a figure eight (or hour-glass-shaped) are produced on the hyphae.  A clamp connection, indicating that this is a species of the Basidiomycota, can be seen between the two knobs.  The knobs are enveloped in a thick mucus sheath and capture nematodes by sticking to the cuticle (click here).
