My research field is the application of
differential equations in Life Science and Environmental Engineering
(modelling, analysis, and simulation). Depending on the particular
application these can be nonlinear ODEs or PDEs. Mathematically
the most challenging aspect of the research program is the study of
non-linear diffusion-reaction systems that arise in the modelling of
biological systems and the simulation of flow equations in irregular
domains. More specific my research group and I have been
working on mathematical problems in microbial ecology (food
microbiology and environmental microbiology); anaerobic digestion of
solid waste and more recently of food; apiculture (bee keeping);
forest ecology; hydrology (including urban
hydrology);
