Rationale

NEED: There is an international recognition that pollination biology is critical to the conservation and sustainability of the world’s flora and fauna and that pollination in agroecosystems is under such severe stress that food systems are likely to be affected seriously.

CAPACITY: The University of Guelph has the capacity, with internationally acclaimed personnel in pollination, apiculture, and related fields, its extensive and modern library, its renown and tradition of excellence in agricultural sciences, and its geographical location for ease of communication and transportation.

COMMITMENT: Appointment of a Faculty member to as Director of INESP-HQ and provision of office and laboratory space for the Director and staff, research team based at U of G, and visiting scholars. Provision of secretarial and technical help.
