Welcome to my website!

Science

I'm a research associate at the Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock, a research centre at the University of Guelph.
My work is mainly in Sheep Genetics. No, not cloning, more practical stuff such as developing selection and breeding programs. Here you'll find information on my research projects, preliminary results, articles, and more.

Recently, I've been working on Abalone Breeding. We're developing a selective breeding program for Canada's only --threatened! species of abalone, to possibly initiate a new aquaculture industry and also provide stock for outplanting in the wild. You'll find some info on this research and a photo of these beautiful creatures here.

Athletics

Who would have ever thought it possible? Yes, I'm an athlete, a runner. Still kind of a beginner, I've been at it seriously for only a few years, and started at the age of 40. Previously, I had never done any sports, in fact hated sports, but wasn't a couch potato either. Now I've completed a marathon, entered races, and even won a few medals. Read my story and find out more. Sorry, this section is terribly out of date.

Arts

I like to be creative doing stained glass, mosaics, paint effects, and decoupage. Admittedly I'm better at planning and designing than actually doing. A lot of my spare time is happily spent playing with colour and form in applications for my house and garden. Passers-by really enjoy the garden. Since completing a course in stained glass in 2005, I've created tons of stuff. Someday I'll put photos here.
