Our bridge club, summer 2001 in Bayfield, Ontario. On my right are Joan Farrell, Susan Kelly and Sheila O'Mahony. Susan passed away on May 5, 2002 after a long fight against breast cancer. Since her death, her sisters, Mom and daughter have continued to convene a lunch every October called "Susan's Lunch with Breast Friends." This October (2008) was the 11th year of the event. It raises awareness as well as funds for Wellspring, an organization that Susan was very passionate about. I have been the MC of the event for the past 2 years. Click the link below for the text of the Lives Lived column that I wrote about her - and our bridge club - that appeared in the Globe and Mail on May 20, 2002.

Roz McKenzie and me, Christmas at Bayfield, 2002. Roz died on September 14, 2004 after a brave battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, David and by her 3 children, Annie, Cait and Ben. She was much loved by the McKenzie clan and by the McDowalls.
Christmas 2004 at Bayfield with my two nieces, Cait and Annie. This Christmas, there were lots of tears but lots of smiles, too.
Mackenzie Rose Baker is the newest member of the McKenzie Clan. Here she is with her great Aunt at Thanksgiving in Bayfield 2005 - her first of many Thanksgivings at the cottage.

The five dogs who were also up were next door when this shot was taken. What a wonderful occasion!
