idella. Measure parameters such as thermal tolerance and preference, size
dependence, assimilation efficiency, and energy allocation. Results will
be used to develop a model to predict potential consumption of aquatic
vegetation in natural environments.
Qualifications: BS in biology, ecology, or related field, GPA
of 3.2 or higher in BS, and GRE score above 1,000.
Salary: $11,000 plus tuition waiver.

Description: Join a research group developing reproduction techniques,
larval rearing procedures, and live food production
procedures. Research will be conducted in Gulf Shores, Alabama, while
course work will be completed on campus. Good communication skills and
the ability to work independently are required.
Qualifications: BS in fisheries, marine biology, aquatic sciences,
or related field. Applicants must have a GPA above 3.0 and GRE scores over
1000. Experience in aquaculture or marine biology preferred.
Salary: $13,500.

Graduate Studies in Mussel Aquaculture, Ecology,

Description: Ph.D. or MS support is available starting in the
summer or fall of 2001 as part of the Network Centres of Excellence (NCE)
in aquaculture, AquaNET. Identify environmental and genetic factors that
influence variation in performance among mussels (Mytilus edulis, M. trossulus,
and their hybrids) in Newfoundland. Contribute to an understanding of the
maintenance of a mussel hybrid zone.
Qualifications: Prior research experience in an appropriate
area of biology. Admission to the Memorial University Graduate Program
is required.
