Katie Dodson, PhD rep
Hi all my name is Katie Dodson and I'm currently pursuing my PhD here in the department. My focus is understanding and preventing weed infestations in urban environments, in particular on athletic fields and home lawns. To answer where I'm from is a difficult question as I have resided in 4 provinces, one territory and also 4 other countries. I moved here from Marsh Lake YT, where I enjoyed working and living in the Great White North, but I missed the world of academia, so I moved my family here to pursue my PhD. I would love the opportunity of being your GSLC PhD rep, as I have always enjoyed working in student government positions, and think that this would be a great opportunity to help my fellow graduate students, while learning more about how a department is run. I'm a laid back person who loves meeting new people, and am confident that I could help ease any new student's transition into the department. For those of you preparing for upcoming comprehensives, I would also be willing to help set up mock exams and be of any assistance that I can. So if you need a friendly face to chat with or help with anything at all, please feel free to come by and chat with me.
