How do I join?
At the beginning of the semester, the Central Student Association (the CSA) holds a two-day event called Club Days, during which clubs set up tables in the UC and the outdoor courtyard. Come find us to purchase a membership! During the semester, the PAC office holds regular office hours (see INFO for hours), come by our office in the University Centre, Rm. 269 (on the second floor across from the CSA boardroom) to purchase a membership from us. If you require a time that is not in our office hours, please email or call us to set up a meeting.
What else do I have to pay for after buying a membership?
There are NO extra fees associated with borrowing equipment, however, film, paper and the like do cost extra (see INFO for details). Members can purchase these items at discounted prices - that is, it is cheaper to buy these items from us as opposed to from a photography store.
For how long can I sign out equipment?
Equipment sign out goes as follows:
| Signed Out | Due Back |
| Monday | Thursday |
| Tuesday | Friday |
| Wednesday | Monday |
| Thursday | Monday |
| Friday | Tuesday |
Renewals are allowed, but you should come in, in person, to renew the equipment.
I signed out a camera but I am not done shooting my film...what should I do?
While it is possible to rewind the film, take it out and return the camera (and later put the partially used film in another camera and advance it to the first empty frame), this is quite tedious. Get in touch with us (either by coming in, emailing or calling) requesting for an extension to your equipment's return date. We are usually absolutely fine with extensions, unless for some reason demand for equipment is higher than our supply (which is most often not the case).
I'm completely new to this and don't even know how to work an SLR camera. Can I still join?
ABSOLUTELY! PAC is all about learning, and many members join the club without having ever used a manual SLR camera (let alone developed film or printed photos). We offer workshops at the beginning of the semester, open to all members, on a variety of topics (see WORKSHOPS for PDF files of our handouts), including basic camera training. If you are unable to make it to a workshop, contact us or come in during a regular office hour for a one-on-one tutorial provided by one of our friendly Exec members.
I want to be an executive member, what does this entail and how do I join the exec team?
Executive members are required to come to weekly meetings and host an office hour, lasting for one hour, once a week. A time can be set up which suits your schedule. This is a volunteer position, our execs are not paid.
Joining the executive team depends on whether we are hiring (and this depends on our ratio of execs to members, which fluctuates from year to year), if you are interested, get in touch with us and we will let you know if positions are available.
