Welcome to The Plant Protection Research Group at the University of Guelph

Field crops grown in Ontario produced a farm gate value of $2.27 billion in 2005. The success of this industry is dependent highly upon knowledge and available technology to manage existing and recently invasive insect, disease and weed populations. The goal of this research is to provide sustainable pest management practices and technologies that will enhance food safety, reduce the environmental impact of pest management practices and maintain market competitiveness for Ontario grown field crops. The pest management team within this project is core to the continued production of Ontario field crops. These scientists will work together, share their expertise and communicate their results through scientific publications and through the OMAFRA extension services to Ontario farmers and to the general public.
