I
am a faculty member in the Ruminant Health Management group, am
currently the Sheep Research Coordinator for the University of
Guelph, and the Clinic Head - Ambulatory Clinics, Veterinary Teaching
Hospital. My research interests in small ruminants (sheep and
goats) focus on disease control programs, health management and
measuring productivity (EweByte) and on-farm food safety.
Diseases of specific interest to me are internal parasites, abortion diseases (Q Fever,
chlamydiosis, toxoplasmosis), maedi visna, caseous lymphadenitis,
mastitis of sheep and goats, scrapie, nutritional diseases such
as pregnancy toxaemia, selenium deficiency and copper toxicity.
I am also very interested in improving access for sheep and goats
to pharmaceuticals through MUMS initiatives (Minor Use Minor Species)
and vaccines. |
