The Sign Club:

Q: Who runs the club?

The club is a CSA affiliate, and is entirely student run. The club's executive committee is made up of students who are responsible fore planning events, answering your emails, holding office hours, and many other things. We welcome your input about how you feel classes are going and ideas you would like to share. If you are interested in joining the executive, please email us, or visit us during our office hours.

Q: So what happens if I miss a few classes?

First of all, we don't want you to feel as if you are too far behind to attend class. If you want to catch up on what you missed or if you would like some extra practice, please come to our office hours and we will gladly go over the lessons that you missed. Just remember to bring your textbook.

Q: What else does the club do?

Throughout the semester we offer fun events such as a movie night and socials where we meet for extra informal practice.

Q: And how much does it cost?

For an entire semester's worth of classes, and your textbook, it only costs twenty-five dollars ($25). That's less than a cup of coffee a day!!

Q: When and where are the classes?

Classes are once a week for one hour, for ten weeks. We usually offer two beginner classes (depending upon how many people sign up); so you have your choice of which day is best for you. As well, we offer an advanced class which is run under the same cr iteria as the beginner's class however we try to choose the day and time when the majority of the people can attend.

Q: What about the office?

The office is also a resource for YOU!! You can come to the office to:
  • ask any questions you may have
  • catch up on a missed class
  • borrow sign language books, movies, and other resources
  • discuss any problems you have with the way classes are being conducted (we value your input!!)
