Women of Colour Collective
MANDATE
The Women of Colour Collective seeks acknowledge, appreciate and celebrate women of colour. We also seek to provide a safe space for women of colour free from discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, linguistic background, creed, gender, sexual orientation, ability and class. We strive to create awareness of all the challenges that women of colour experience and create options for dealing with such challenges. We believe in acknowledging and respecting the differences among women of colour from all over the world, including women of mixed racial backgrounds, as a way to create unity within diversity and to establish multicultural awareness. With these aims, we strive to promote educational development and personal well being through the creation of a feeling of solidarity between us.
The Women of Colour Collective hosts discussion groups, social events, workshops, and training.
If you are interested in becoming involved with the Women of Colour Collective as a participant, please contact us at wocc@uoguelph.ca.
