Video opens with food science student from Mumbai, India, Krupa Thakkar, wearing a red University of Guelph sweater with long brown hair and glasses, sitting in a white room in a red chair. Video switches between Krupa sitting in the chair and footage of lab work throughout the University. [Krupa] Hi, I am Krupa Thakkar, I am from India, and I am studying Food Science at the University of Guelph. I chose the University of Guelph because it is well known for having the best food science program in Canada. The quality of the education is very high, and it offers experiential learning opportunities as well. Not to mention, it also has the best campus food in Canada! One of the things I absolutely love about my program is the incredible support system. Professors, staff, and fellow students are all in for your success. It's a community that constantly cheers you on. Experiential learning is a big part of my Food Science co-op program. Currently, I'm working as a food product development technician at the Guelph Food Innovation Centre. I recently got to lead a project creating hot honey, overseeing both the food product development and production side of it. It's hands-on, it's exciting, and it's the kind of learning that really elevates my education. Living in Canada has been such an enriching experience. I have met people from all over the world and learned about many different cultures. I have also made so many lifelong friends and many memories. Some advice I can give for other international students at U of G is to seize every opportunity that comes your way. University of Guelph has so many opportunities and resources and you want to make sure you make the most of your time here. Whether it's joining clubs or taking part in events, these experiences not only enhance your journey, but also contribute to building connections and skills that can last a lifetime.
