Video opens with a student Tatiana Fisher. She has short black hair tied in a pony tail and is wearing glasses, has a nose ring and is wearing a burgundy turtle neck and light brown baggy cardigan. She is sitting in front of a red wall in a gold chair. There is a photograph of the Gryphon statue to the right of Tatiana on the red wall and a shelf to her left with several decorative items. (upbeat music) [Tatiana] The program I'm in is preparing me in so many different ways for my future, but I'm so glad and thankful that I'm learning such practical skills in life that will be able to translate into any career, just even like engaging with people in general. I'm learning so much about interactions and relationships. That is really intriguing and exciting. My name is Tatiana Fisher. I'm in my fourth year of the Bachelor of Applied Sciences program. My first experience coming to the university was just like a hectic messy day. I missed my train getting here. It was like pouring rain. I didn't get to see the tour of the residences or anything, but I had this feeling I was like, I think I'm still going to go for it, I guess. I think the main two reasons I chose the university was, one, the feeling of coming to campus and even in that hectic day, all of the people that I asked like questions to, to help me find things even though I couldn't go to my tour were so helpful, and the program as well was so intriguing to me. So I think those two reasons were the pull for me. [Professor Robin Milhausen, CSAHS] is sitting in a classroom in front of a white screen. She has blond straight shoulder length hair, wearing a black blazer and a blue blouse. [Robin] The really awesome thing about our programs is they're very applied. So all of our courses and all of our degrees had to do with working with people. So our students are prepared to go right out after they finish their program and work in the human services, in community agencies, related to nutrition, aging, human health and wellbeing, all different fields. [Tatiana] Bachelor of Applied Sciences Child, Youth, and Family is so unique to me compared to what I've seen at other universities for the fact that it is under a Bachelor of Applied Sciences. So what you're learning is incorporating so much of like social sciences and a lot of people that graduate this program say, I am so thankful for certain classes like program design or communications and counseling, because in teachers college, that has become so beneficial and is something that they use every day. For me, I took a shot in the dark and I'm so thankful I did choose Guelph. Guelph fit every need I needed. (laughs) (upbeat music)
