Visual Transcript: Mental Wellbeing on campus Video opens on drone footage of the Arboretum. VO: ÒThe arboretum supports student mental health indirectly by just being a space for students to be in. It helps them de-stress.Ó On screen, Spencer Martens, Student Engagement Coordinator ÒMy role is to connect students to green spaces on campus and bring them into the arboretum and help increase the types of engagement they have. I think when people feel isolated, it perpetuates it further. Something small that helps shape student mental wellbeing is that physical element of getting outside, taking a walk. Being physically active will always support our mental wellness.Ó On screen: Cooks preparing food in the kitchen, staff serving food to students. VO: We want to make sure everything that we do supports their mental health, their mental wellbeing. On screen Vijay Nair, Associate Director of Culinary Operations: Òso that they can focus on studies which is ultimately what they're here for. If food is good, they feel comfortable then a lot of other things fall in place. To incorporate food from all the nationalities, they feel seen. I think food represents people. It shows them that they belong here but if there is one thing that we can make sure they feel 100% comfortable, students will come and say that that reminds me of my mom's cooking and I think for us, that's one of the best compliments we can receive.Ó On screen Sonya Wu-Winter, Coordinator, Multi-Faith programs: ÒWe know that when students come to campus, there can be a longing to bring their full selves, and I think that is so important that there are people on this campus who know each of us by name.Ó On screen: Students talking at a table in atrium, students talking at a table in cafeteria, two students talking by windows, another student talking in Engineering building. VO Sonya: Òbeyond what we are accomplishing in class, for who we are and the gift of who we are.Ó Sonya on screen: ÒThe sense of being known in community I think is very powerful.Ó Video ends on U of G animated logo.
