COMING SOON: Oxford Nanopore PromethION 48

PromethION 48 Sequencer and PC

The PromethION 48 is a high-throughput nanopore sequencer capable of natively sequencing both RNA and DNA. Nanopores read the length of DNA or RNA presented to them — from short to ultra-long (longest >4 Mb).

The PromethION can load up to 48 flow cells, each capable of multiplexing 96 samples, for an astonishing maximum of 4,608 samples per run. It is also possible to re-use flow-cells, decreasing cost and waste. The PromethION can be partially loaded: this scalability allows for extremely rapid turn-around times.

Suitable applications
  • Native methylation sequencing
  • Genome de-novo assembly
  • Population-scale sequencing
  • Metagenomics of complex communities
  • Samples with mixed fragment sizes
  • Highly multiplexed small genomes or targeted regions
  • Whole transcriptomes (direct RNA or cDNA)
  • Extremely fast turnaround times on projects requiring at least 100 gigabases
