Description: This award provides support for undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, sessional instructors and faculty from the College of Biological Science to attend a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning conference.
Eligibility:
Applicants – Undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, sessional instructors and faculty from the College of Biological Science are eligible to apply. Students are eligible for conferences held during their program or in the semester immediately following completion of their program.
Expenses –Eligible expenses include registration, accommodation, and transportation. Out-of-pocket meals are not covered.
Event – Any conference, consisting of posters, oral presentations or workshops, for which Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is the primary focus (e.g. Western Conference on Science Education (WCSE), the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL) conference, or the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) conference.). Education training sessions may be eligible.
Selection Criteria:
All qualified people are encouraged to apply and attend a conference; however, priority will be given to students presenting at a conference and faculty attending or presenting at a teaching conference for the first time. Applicants may receive one (1) COESP Conference Travel Award each year (June-May).
Value:
In Ontario: $250
Outside of Ontario: $400
In a given semester, $2,300 is available for awards.
Method and Deadline of Application:
Apply by submitting a completed application form online before the conference. Applications are processed three times a year: on the last day of May, September, and January.

Requirements:To claim their Award, successful awardees agree to participate in a communication activity before, during OR after the conference:
Before – give their conference presentation as a dry run at a COESP-sponsored event (e.g. the annual COESP Day in May)
During – provide updates about the conference through social media that can be linked to the COESP social media outlets (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
After – share their conference presentation and experiences at a COESP-sponsored event
