What classifies as a Home-Schooled student?

• I have been educated outside of a formal day school
• I do not intend to graduate with a high school diploma (e.g. OSSD)

General Admission Requirements

Applications from home-schooled applicants are considered on an individual basis. In addition to your home schooling experience, you must provide individual assessments in the six required subjects for your program(s) of interest.  

The University of Guelph does not require completion of the high school diploma for home schooled applicants.

Required Documents

You must provide individual assessments in the required subjects for your program of interest. The following assessments are accepted:

• Grade 12 4U/M courses (accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education). Courses may be completed in any combination of correspondence, on-line learning, night school, or day school. 
• Required courses at the Grade 12/senior level completed through an accredited institution
• Approved courses from an accredited college or university.
• Official transcripts from an accredited post-secondary institution;
• Advanced Placement (AP) exams
• ACT
• SAT

You must also submit a personal statement outlining your educational history, home schooling experience (e.g. curriculum) and why you are interested in attending the University of Guelph.

Deadlines

• Application Deadline: January 15*

*We will continue to accept applications after this date, but applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

• Documents Deadline: April 15 

All documents can be emailed to Admission Services at applicant@uoguelph.ca. Transcripts are only considered official if they are sent directly from the issuing institution. 

Note: We will use unofficial transcripts for initial admission consideration. Upload your unofficial high school transcript through 'My Documents' in WebAdvisor.
