Research Summary: Special truck liners, called biobags, are used for safe deadstock transport and disposal to designated landfill locations; however, the bags are made from plastic, are environmentally unfriendly and must be imported to Canada. This project aims to develop an Ontario-made, cost-effective and biodegradable sheet as a substitute that also meets industry and landfill requirements in terms of biosecurity and material integrity. These substitutions could provide a new business opportunity within Ontario that makes use of local biobased products while reducing plastic waste with a biodegradable alternative.]
