Political Philosophy Research Group

The Political Philosophy Research Group began in 2011, and includes social and political theorists in the Philosophy and Political Science Departments.  We warmly welcome interested PhD students in social and political philosophy. We usually choose recent texts that we all want to read, and meet informally over snacks. Recent books discussed include Amartya Sen's 'The Idea of Justice' (2009) and Wendy Brown's 'Regulating Aversion: Tolerance in the Age of Identity and Empire' (2008). Participating faculty include Karen Wendling, Monique Deveaux, Omid Payrow Shabani and Karen Houle in Philosophy, and Theresa Lee and Candace Johnson in Political Science.
